TARA SINGH, my teacher of A Course in Miracles, had many pictures of “Holy Beings” at the Foundation, where he lived and worked. One of the most impressive was this sculpture of the Buddha, which was in profile. It could bring the mind to silence just looking at it. The frontal view is not as powerful, but it still has the peace to impart. When the sculptor has entered into that state of inner peace and stillness, he can imbue the work with the very essence of the Buddha…then it ceases to be an artifact, and rather becomes a transmitter of the living Presence of the Buddha himself.
